An alternative scheme to estimate AstroSat/LAXPC background for faint sources

چکیده
An alternative scheme is described to estimate the layer 1 LAXPC 20 background for faint sources where source contribution 50-80 keV count rate less than 0.25 counts/sec (15 milli-crabs or $6 \times 10^{-11}$ ergs/s/cm$^2$). We consider 12 blank sky observations and based on their in 100 second time-bins, generate four template spectra which are then used spectrum lightcurve a given observation. The variance of estimated subtracted taken as energy dependent systematic uncertainty will dominate over statistical one exposures longer 5 ksecs. time bin 4-20 band with 3\% error matches ones. can be constrained flux $\gtrapprox 1$ milli-crab. Fractional r.m.s variability 10\% determined $\sim 5$ milli-crab binned at seconds. To illustrate scheme, lightcurves, three different observations, AGN (Mrk 0926, Mrk 110, NGC 4593), LMC X-1 shown.

Optically Faint Microjansky Radio Sources.
We report on the identifications of radio sources from our survey of the Hubble Deep Field (HDF) and the Small Selected Area 13 fields, both of which comprise the deepest radio surveys to date at 1.4 and 8.5 GHz, respectively. About 80% of the microjansky radio sources are associated with moderate-redshift starburst galaxies or active galactic nuclei within the I-magnitude range of 17-24 with a...
متن کاملAn alternative scheme for perplexity estimation
Language models are usually evaluated on test texts using the perplexity derived directly from the model likelihood function. In order to use this measure in the framework of a comparative evaluation campaign, we have developped an alternative scheme for perplexity estimation. The method is derived from the Shannon game and based on a gambling approach on the next word to come in a truncated se...
متن کاملFaint Agn and the Ionizing Background
We determine the evolution of the faint, high-redshift, optical luminosity function of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) implied by several observationally-motivated models of the ionizing background from 3 < z < 5. Our results depend crucially on whether we use the total ionizing rate measured by the proximity effect technique or the lower determination favored by the flux decrement distribution of...
متن کاملMid-infrared Identification of Faint Submillimeter Sources
Faint submillimeter sources detected with the Submillimeter Common-User Bolometer Array on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope have faced an identification problem due to the telescope’s broad beam profile. Here we propose a new method to identify such submillimeter sources with a mid-infrared image having a finer point spread function. The Infrared Space Observatory has provided a very deep 6.7μ...
متن کاملAre the infrared-faint radio sources pulsars?
Infrared-Faint Radio Sources (IFRS) are objects which are strong at radio wavelengths but undetected in sensitive Spitzer observations at infrared wavelengths. Their nature is uncertain and most have not yet been associated with any known astrophysical object. One possibility is that they are radio pulsars. To test this hypothesis we undertook observations of 16 of these sources with the Parkes...
